Kingsbarns
Kingsbarns was the last true seaside Scottish links course to be developed and opened in 2000. Its prestigious location just seven miles south of St Andrews has been both a blessing and a curse; it certainly does stand out from the crowd. Embracing the sea on every hole with seven of them playing directly over or alongside it, this is a truly magnificent golf course and it offers a stiff challenge with generous greens and wide fairways.
The course features a number of highly memorable holes; many along the stunning coastline, others that move slightly inland and blend seamlessly into the Old World links contours. The closing hole is a real test; a long par 4 with a forced carry approach shot over a burn to a large green. A superb finish to a memorable course.
Panmure
Located just west of Carnoustie is Panmure. It is a true hidden gem. It is a sculpted links course with huge sand dunes, gorse and heather, and is not to be underestimated. The course has been a final qualifying venue for the Open on multiple occasions and is a fantastic test of golf.
Originally, the club shared the links of nearby Monifieth but overcrowding forced the club to relocate to its present location. Allan Robertson was hired to lay out a course at the new site and the current clubhouse was designed after one in Calcutta, a tribute to the club’s former ties with the jute trade in India.
To play this wonderful course, our locally sourced transfer company will pick you up from your hotel in St Andrews around an hour and thirty minutes before your tee time giving you plenty of time to hit some warm up balls. They will then drop you off at the course with ample time for a quick lunch before your round starts.
